Read to Baby One of the best gifts you can give your child is a love of reading. Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers learn to love reading when they equate it with loving attention and a happy time of sharing. The best place to start with young children is with board books since they enjoy being able to handle books themselves.

Why Read to My Baby?

You may wonder what the benefits of reading to your baby are. Clearly he or she can't understand what you are doing or why. But would you wait until your child could understand what you were saying before you started speaking to him or her? No. And you wouldn't bypass lullabies until your baby could carry a tune or wait until he or she could shake a rattle before you offered any toys. It is never too early to start reading to your youngster. Setting the tone early in the relationship with your child is the key to a lifelong love of reading and encourages curiosity and a passion for learning.

Happy Birthday Puppy is a fun, rhyming board book about a lovable puppy who has just turned two. Puppy celebrates his birthday with a big party, sending out invitations, playing games, and making a special birthday wish. A wonderful book, put together in a durable manner and illustrated in a bright, cartoony style, Happy Birthday Puppy is a fun and friendly story meant to be read aloud to very young children. "Soon mommy brings out / a brightly lit treat... / Topped with icing / and sprinkles. / Isn't that sweet? / Two candles on top... / There is one for each year. / 'Happy Birthday to Puppy,' / his friends loudly cheer.
