"A Day Filled With Poo"

by Tammy Lynn
Poo

It’s late right now, and my day is done. Snug in my chair, and flat on my bum.
The cat is in. The dogs are fed. I even put our two kids to bed.
And now it’s time for him and me. We don’t do much. We watch TV.
We skip. We pause. We play our show. We do it all with our TiVo.
Until, that is, we hear the cry coming from our little guy.

He’s not alone. There is another. We call him Stephen; Jay's older brother.
Oh Yuck! There’s poop all over the place! Mom! Come quick! It’s all over his face!
Count one, then two, on three we shoot. Rock beats scissors; I clean the poop.
Out of my chair, and off of my butt. I scurry up the stairs to see what’s what.

I enter their room. Oh, what a mess! But Mommy is here, and I tidy-up with finesse.
Clean him up quick; a dip in the tub. Next is his bed with a scrub-a-dub-dub.
A smell that is sweet. Two kisses, two hugs. Goodnight to my boys. Watch for bed bugs.

I stroll down the stairs. Hear something, it’s roaring. I look to my left. It’s my husband. He’s snoring. No matter it’s late, and I’m tired too.
I climb back in my chair. Wish this day had less poo!
